GO University is a program created and facilitated by the Sioux City Growth Organization, an organization formed on the basis to attract and retain young professionals while developing leaders and making a difference in the community. Specifically, GO University is a 9 month program designed to help introduce college students to life skills after college. The program goes above and beyond to educate students using real world experiences from local young professionals. The program includes discussions such as: preparing for interviews, dressing for the workplace and social events, financial planning, community involvement, and building a positive social media presence.

Our goal for GO University is to help make the college to real world transition a little bit easier. As young professionals, we understand that bridging this gap requires more. The foundation of GO University is cultivating new relationships. GO University will help provide you with the necessary tools to become active community members and a desired employee prospect.

This Fall, Go University is focusing time at Morningside College. (Briar Cliff University sessions coming this Spring!)

Creating a Killer Personal Brand (Social media and resume building)

Already have a resume created? Great! We’ll show you how to make it even better to get your name noticed. However, resumes are only one aspect employers use to get an impression of you. Employers now turn to social media to gauge future employees. Therefore, this session will provide insight into what those employers are looking at; how students can better regulate what is being posted on those platforms; and how they can build a more dynamic presence in the future.

Budgeting Your Bills While Maintaining a Social Life

You’ve got the great resume, you made a great impression networking and interviewing, and now you’ve got the job! Now what? In this session we’ll overview the attire you need for various settings and functions. From the workplace to cocktail hour, this will be a great opportunity for students to see what the new fashion “norm” is for busy young professionals.

On top of that, finances are often a challenge for students right out of college. Juggling school loans, monthly bills and a social life rely heavily on proper budgeting. In this session, we’ll bring in bank industry professionals to guide students through a personal budget.
